MULTIMEDIA DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
Development

Great code should be entirely seamless and (sadly for our coders) completely unappreciated!

The David Lawrence Group has years of experience, programming a huge variety projects from small business websites to content-management and ecommerce systems. There is very little that phases us, but if you do need a custom solution, we are always open to new challenges!

Essentially, web development is broken down into two areas: front-end development and back-end development. For this section we have tried to keep technical jargon to a minimum but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Front-End Web Development (HTML, Javascript & CSS)

Front-end web development involves turning a set of designs into code so that your content may be viewed on the web.

Many web developers will simply use a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver to put your site into code. This is little more difficult than using Microsoft Word and results in an unprofessional end product. Web sites that have been constructed in a WYSIWYG editor will suffer from all of the following:

  • Messy and bulky code, which is difficult to update and maintain
  • Pages that are not geared for search engine optimisation
  • Content thats suffers from accessibility and cross-browser incompatibility issues, thus reducing your target audience

The David Lawrence Group however, always aims to develop high quality, cross-browser compliant web pages ensuring maximum accessibility and a consistant presentation.

  • Our code is clean & minimal, resulting in pages that are easy to manage and update
  • Page content is constructed in a way helps search engines to index it
  • Code is provided free of errors and written to ensure compatiblity with all major web browsers
  • Sites are designed to for optimal viewing across all screen resolutions

Back-End Web Development (C#, Visual Basic, Cold Fusion, XML, SQL)

Back-end web Development is where all the 'behind the scenes' work goes on - where the front-end of your site is connected to programming functions and databases that will make the web site actually work.

Our approach to programming is modular and object-orientated. All of our programming is created with extensibility in mind.

Most of our programming is in C# or Visual Basic and built on Microsofts .Net framework with SQL Server providing our database layer. This allows us to do more, to a higher standard in less time.
